What Australian installers like about LONGi solar panels

The two themes that came through from Australian solar installers who shared their feedback of working with LONGi solar panels were:

  • LONGi offers many of the same premium features that buyers love from Aiko, but at a much lower price point.
  • LONGi are genuine record breakers – their cell efficiency records aren’t just great for marketing; they're also great for consumers.

Neil, Solar Run Casey (rated LONGi 10/10)

"LONGi offer similar tech to Aiko without the premium price point"

Neil’s feedback is the most telling piece of feedback on LONGi from our survey data. Aiko was the highest-rated panel in Solar Calculator's 2026 Solar Installer Survey with a rating of 9.4/10. From that feedback, almost all of the (limited) criticism revolved around price.

Aiko deserves its rating and reputation – they are excellent panels – but they do come with a premium price tag. LONGi solar panels offer many of the same premium features that buyers love from Aiko. In fact, LONGi's HPBC cells are built on the same back-contact principle as Aiko's ABC cells, albeit at a lower price point.

Nitin, Solarpath (rated LONGi 9/10)

"Great panel, large manufacturer, a bit expensive but they are breaking records with cells efficiency"

LONGi solar panels range overview

LONGi is one of the most popular brands for residential solar panel customers in Australia. They are not the cheapest, but they are far from the most expensive – which hits a sweet spot for a lot of Australian buyers looking to balance the solar panel price with quality, and reliability. LONGi holds a Tier 1 bankability rating from Bloomberg and offers competitive warranty terms. LONGi offers back-contact performance without the premium price of brands like Maxeon or Aiko.

LONGi currently offers five different solar panel models in Australia: the Hi-MO X10, Hi-MO 9, Hi-MO 7, Hi-MO X6 Max and Hi-MO 6. Of those, only the Hi-MO X10 and Hi-MO 6 are intended for residential customers, whilst the remaining panels are aimed at commercial buyers looking for large panels that won’t be suitable for most residential roofs.

Final thoughts

LONGi ranked extremely well in our survey. Those that install the product think highly of it with the lowest rating coming in at a respectable 7/10 and one installer praising LONGi for Aiko-rivalling tech – the highest rated brand in our survey – but at a lower price point.

LONGi is not the cheapest brand on the market, and to be fair – it shouldn’t be. The company is extremely well established, manufactures cells with record breaking technology, and is well regarded by solar installers. If you’re looking for premium tech but don’t want to go all out on Aiko, then LONGi might just be the sweet spot.
