A background of Aiko solar panels
Before we jump into the data, let’s have a look at the brand of Aiko solar panels and how they fit into Australia’s crowded solar panel market place.
Aiko is a Chinese solar panel manufacturer that has been around since 2009. Founded in Zhuhai, Guangdong, Aiko was the solar cell manufacturer for other module manufacturers for more than a decade before it became a public facing brand in 2022.
Aiko formally launched in Australia in March of 2024. Despite only being on the market for around two years, Aiko have firmly cemented their place in the market and already become a top choice amongst solar installers.
Aiko’s ABC cell technology advantage
Aiko is best known for its ABC (All Back Contact) cell technology which ultimately results in one of the highest efficiency ratings of any solar panels on the market. Without diving into the technical side of things too much, Aiko’s ABC design places the positive and negative metal contacts at the rear of the solar cell instead of the front like most solar panels. By moving these to the rear of the solar cell, Aiko panels are able to capture more sunlight on the front of the panel which means they can generate more energy for the same amount of roof space.

Miles Goldstone, Adapt Energy (rated Aiko 10/10)
"AIKO represents the perfect balance of high efficiency, reliability and affordable pricing. A leader of innovation in performance, shade tolerance and mechanical endurance."
Chris Senarath, Smarter Home Solutions (rated Aiko 10/10)
"AIKO Neostar can be around 23.8% efficient, meaning it produces the same rating from a smaller physical area than a lower-efficiency panel. It’s a higher-end premium panel with some superior performance characteristics."
Marco, MDB Solar (rated Aiko 10/10)
"This (Aiko) panel has the best technology which helps with shading issues and is offered at a reasonable price."

What Australian solar installers don't like about Aiko
Aiko attracted the highest average score in our survey with 85% of solar installers surveyed ranking Aiko Solar Panels 9 / 10 or higher. We had to look hard to find any negative feedback about Aiko panels. We did find some, but none of it related to the product – just the price.
Joel Atkins, Ready Set Solar (rated Aiko 7/10)
"Nothing really (criticism on Aiko). They're great – just value for money, not the best."
It’s fair feedback – Aiko isn’t the cheapest solar panel on the market, but nor are they trying to be. Aiko are premium solar panels for those that value performance (per sqm), aesthetics, and want a hassle-free solar experience.
It’s worth mentioning that Aiko solar panels are still relatively new to the Australian market. Given they only launched in 2024, it may be that appreciation for the panel diminishes with time. That said, Aiko’s Tier 1 bankability rating and the fact their cell technology has been used for many years, should allay any concerns around warranty and the brand's longevity.
Final thoughts
Aiko solar panels ranked #1 in Solar Calculator’s first annual Solar Installer Survey for 2026. Any other praise would be superfluous – our survey went out to respected solar installers and we value their feedback.
Any criticism that we saw from solar installers around Aiko wasn’t about the product – just the price. Aiko is not the cheapest in its category. It is a premium product for those that value looks, efficiency, and performance in varied conditions.
